The 24th of May was a special day for the SmartHomes Initiative Germany, as the best and smartest products, solutions, start-ups and projects were awarded. The jury consisted of top SmartHome experts, chief editors and professors, who handed out the awards in front of 130 guests at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in Berlin, Germany. In the category "best realised project", company Elsner Elektronik GmbH received the first prize for the project "User-Oriented Building Control for Commercial Buildings". Elsner Elektronik's commercial building impressively showcases that building control allows the implementation of high energy efficiency and safety levels, while granting user-codetermination at the same time. The automation was realised with KNX. Next to temperature, ventilation and shading control, the building is also equipped with media technology, safety and surveillance functions. KNX touch-displays in the offices allow the employees to control all functions.

On 19 April 2016, KNX Luxembourg celebrated its 5th anniversary with a meeting at the country's most prominent KNX training center, CNFPC (Centre National de Formation Professionnelle Continue). The meeting consisted of a formal part, the annual General Assembly and an informal part. The informal part was kicked off with a presentation given by Mr. Demarest, CTO of KNX International, providing detailed information on the highlights presented at the recent light+building fair, i.e. the ETS Inside, KNX IoT (KNX Web services) as well as KNX Secure. The informal part was concluded with a toast to the success of KNX in Luxembourg, networking possibilities as well as product demonstrations by local representatives of KNX members.

ETS5.5 is now available for download. This new update is free for ETS5 licensed users.

The main new features are:

• Integration of KNX IP Secure and KNX Data Secure in ETS. The different flavors on KNX Secure plus corresponding procedures/ settings are described in detail in the ETS5 help.

• Introduction of restore points for automatic backup of project work when closing the ETS project.

Being invited by EcoConsulting (Lebanon), KNX Userclub Lebanon participated in the 7th Build It Green - Lebanon Seminar. This seminar hosted 25 workshops and various exhibitions. Venue was the well-known Hotel Monroe, which hosted the successful seminar on March 16th.

Workshop #6 was dedicated to the KNX Technology and led by KNX Partners Dantziguian Hrayr Automation Systems sarl, of Lebanon, with the exhibits based on KNX devices from KNX Members Siemens, IPAS, and Elsner-Elektronik. The KNX workshop was attended by 25 Architects, Engineers and Contractors, thereby contributing to the overall success of the whole Seminar.
